A New Moon is a sky phase
At New Moon, the side of the Moon facing Earth is mostly dark, so the Moon is hard to see. The phase depends on how the Sun, Earth, and Moon line up. It does not depend on anyone's birthday.
A lunar return uses your birth chart
A birth chart records the Moon's exact zodiac position at birth. Roughly every four weeks, the moving Moon reaches that position again. Some Western astrologers draw a chart for that moment and call it a lunar return. It need not happen on a New Moon.
Keep the reading close to real life
A lunar-return chart can offer a theme to reflect on for the coming weeks. You might ask, 'What changed in my daily routine this month?' Your experience supplies the answer. The chart cannot tell you what will happen.
