Western astrology has a traditional link between each weekday and a sky body. These seven pairs help explain the phrase ‘planetary day.’ They do not tell us what will happen that day.
Sunday and Monday
Sunday is linked with the Sun, and Monday with the Moon. The old grouping includes these two alongside the planets, even though they are not planets in astronomy.
Tuesday through Saturday
Tuesday is linked with Mars, Wednesday with Mercury, Thursday with Jupiter, Friday with Venus, and Saturday with Saturn. That gives each of the seven weekdays one name to remember.
A traditional label, not a forecast
If an astrology text calls Friday ‘Venus day,’ it means this weekday link. It does not mean Venus has changed its position or that Friday guarantees romance, luck, or any other result.
A few common questions
Does a planetary weekday tell me where that planet is?
No. The weekday link repeats each week. A planet's actual position depends on the date and time.
