A chart may use the word “cusp.” A house cusp is the boundary where one house begins. It is not the name of a planet.
The start of a numbered house
The fifth-house cusp marks the start of the fifth house, at its boundary with the fourth. The number tells you which house is beginning.
Match the line with the number
Look for the house numbers and the lines separating their areas. Find the boundary where the house you want begins. Some charts also list cusp positions in a table, so use the labels on your own chart.
A boundary to read first
At this stage, you are simply finding a boundary. Its position does not, by itself, tell you what will happen. You can look up the meaning of the house separately.
A few common questions
Does the fifth-house cusp have to be in Leo, the fifth sign?
No. House numbers and zodiac signs are separate labels. Read the sign shown at that boundary instead of matching the two numbers.
