Two charts ask a different question from one
A love reading begins with your own way of relating. Synastry, the astrological comparison behind a compatibility reading, puts two birth charts beside each other. Astrologers look at how placements and aspects connect and, when the birth details permit it, where one person's planets fall in the other's houses.
The point is to explore possible areas of ease and difference. A Sun-sign pairing alone gives too little detail for that conversation, and even a fuller comparison cannot tell you what either person feels today. It also applies beyond dating: friends, family members, and collaborators may want to understand their different rhythms.
Read the score as a label on the calculation
Lodestar calculates the displayed compatibility score by comparing the Sun and Moon elements and Venus signs in the two charts. The number summarizes those selected factors. It is not the percentage chance that a relationship will work, a measure of either person's worth, or a rating of how much one person should tolerate.
Read the written comparison beside the number. What sounds familiar to both people? What sounds unfamiliar? If a passage suggests different communication speeds, ask whether each person prefers to talk immediately or take time first. The answer comes from both people, not the score.
Know what happens when birth time is missing
If a birth time is missing, Lodestar assumes noon for the Sun, Moon and Venus score. Rising signs are not part of that score, and house comparisons need known birth details. The Moon's position may be less certain when the time is unknown. Read those limits alongside the result.
Do not treat a high number as permission to overlook disrespect, or a lower number as a reason to dismiss a relationship that both people value. A chart can suggest a topic to discuss; it cannot replace listening, boundaries, and the record of how you treat one another.
Try one conversation, not a verdict
Choose one point of difference from the reading and ask: ‘When this happens, what helps you feel heard?’ Let each person answer in their own words. If the answer changes how you make plans or handle disagreement, the reading has done something useful without deciding the relationship for you.
