The palaces give each question a place
Zi Wei Dou Shu is a Chinese chart tradition. A natal chart arranges twelve palaces around a grid, including the Life, Partnership, Wealth, Career, Property, and Parents palaces. A palace names the area being considered; it does not announce what must happen there. The Life Palace is an important starting point, but one palace cannot stand in for a whole person.
This is a different map from a Western zodiac chart. Its named stars are traditional chart symbols placed by the system's rules, not a claim that each star was observed in that part of the sky at birth. Reading a palace means considering its stars and its connections with other palaces, rather than taking a single label as a verdict.
Birth time changes the layout
The lunar birth month and hour help locate the Life Palace; the other palaces follow from that position. A different recorded birth hour can therefore change the chart's structure. If you do not know your birth time, it is better to say that a complete twelve-palace chart cannot be placed reliably than to guess one.
Chart making follows rules, while interpretation involves judgment. Two readers may agree on the palace and star placements yet ask different questions about them. A difficult-sounding palace or star is not evidence of a certain loss, illness, or relationship outcome.
