It starts with time and place
As Earth turns, the zodiac position at the eastern horizon changes. A chart uses your birth time and birthplace to find that position. If the time is unknown, the rising sign cannot be identified reliably from the date alone.
It is one chart symbol, not a mask
Astrologers may use the rising sign to talk about how someone approaches new settings. It is sometimes called a 'public face,' but that phrase can be too rigid. A chart symbol does not prove how you act in every room.
Check the input before the description
If a site shows a rising sign, check which birth time and place it used. An invented noon time can produce a neat result, but it is not a verified rising sign.
